One Room Challenge - Week 8
Here we are! At the end of week 8 of the One Room Challenge. I’m very proud to announce I am DONE-ish. I’m at the perilous edge of the completely finished cliff. It just enough complete that it can be totally enjoyed as is, but there are items that need to be addressed to call it complete. I will get to those. I am resolute in my goal of no longer being the *almost done* worker. In this post, instead of blathering on about what I did, I’m going to let the pictures do the talking.
Ok. Maybe a little bit of blabbering. I’ll update this post with a detailed breakdown of how much this space cost to get to where it is. I’ll need a minute to go over all my purchase as well as look up the cost of items and tools I already had on hand. There are a couple of things I’m most proud of regarding this space.
The porch swing: I built it from a queen headboard and twin foot board. Here’s the link to the build. I’ll be adding the remaining steps of what you need to consider when selecting and then attaching the hardware to hang the swing to that blog post and will announce when that’ll be done on my IG account @byrneburymanor.
The coffee table: Everyone… I built that!!! I’ll be readying a separate blogpost sharing how I made this piece of art happen. This is my favorite piece of the whole project, not only for it’s beauty, but it was the most challenging for me. I learned and applied new skills. At each step of the process, the risk was high of it being a complete failure. There were moments of panic when, for example, the epoxy started leaking out of the mold and I lost almost 1/4 of the 1.5 gallons of epoxy. I learned so much and will share what I would do differently next time. In the end, it turned out beautifully. It still needs a coat of protectant on the bare wood, but other than that, I’m really happy with it.
I’ve enjoyed checking out everyone’s completed and almost completed spaces. So much talent to peruse on the ORC Blog so definitely go check it out. I’m going to take a breather for the next few weeks to get our home back in order before starting on the next project. During this time, I plan on checking out every single project and blogger/intagramer who participated in this challenge. I truly appreciate the time and effort it took to participate in this.
